MONTREAL — An electrical fire in the ceiling of a seniors’ residence forced the evacuation of 36 people Tuesday night and did $300,000 damage. The fire was called in at 9:34 p.m. for the residence on Chemin de Chambly in St-Hubert. Thirty-four firefighters and 11 vehicles were sent to deal with the fire and the residents of the 50-unit building. Three people were sent to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Most residents were able to go back to their units at midnight.
